Raising The Roof
High pressure laminate from Abet’s Serie Metalli collection has been used to clad the refurbished bar front and doors of the prestigious Roof Gardens Nightclub in London’s Kensington.
Specified by W2 Design Associates, Serie Metalli is a popular choice for this kind of application where a stylish and fashionable finish is of paramount importance to complement the overall interior decoration.
Nightclubs are among the most fashion-led of places. Here, designers need to select materials which are inherently attractive and which perform exceptionally well. This is why high pressure laminates are often favoured over traditional materials. Not only will they resist heavy use and abuse but the range of colours, textures and effects available is almost limitless. For these reasons, of the most popular laminates used is Abet’s Metalli range.
The Metalli range is particularly suitable because the metallic finishes combine with a chic high-tech quality to give shimmering effects which are enhanced by the ever-changing lighting. The range comprises over 85 high pressure laminates with real metal surfaces protected by a lacquering and anodising process. The choice for designers extends across silver, grey, gold and copper. Each has multi-reflective ribbed and mottled textures to complement with the sharp acid-like yellows, greens and blues that also distinguish the Series.
Owned by Virgin Limited Edition, the Roof Gardens Nightclub is set on two floors, and forms part of Sir Richard Branson’s private collection of retreats. The gardens feature over one and a half acres of themed gardens, exotic wildlife and unparalleled views of London's spectacular skyline. They provide a haven of style and relaxed glamour, where visitors are surrounded by exotic flamingos, babbling brooks and exotic palm trees all situated one hundred feet above Kensington High Street.

Adding flavour to Hotel Chocolat
Hotel Chocolat, the UK chocolate phenomenon, has been taking the retail world by storm following its success as a catalogue-based business having recently opened its 22nd store.
The stores, designed by Terry Moore Design Ltd, feature Abet's striking and popular Legni collection of woodgrain high pressure laminate which clad the cash tills, counter area and display stands. The Wenge Nutshell woodgrain gives a rich and vibrant feel to the counters and add to the overall dramatic and luxurious feel to the stores and the contrast between the dark wood counters and displays against the lighter stone flooring enforces the dark and white chocolate feel and theme.
Abet’s Legni high pressure laminates are designed to give the warmth and appearance of real wood but with the added benefits of laminate strength and durability. With consistency in appearance and quality from sheet to sheet, the high pressure laminates gives a uniformed look throughout the stores in particular and the chain as a whole.
Hotel Chocolat was recently awarded Retail Week’s “Emerging Retail of the Year Award” and has enjoyed a rapid and successful retail presence. The company is continuing with its retail expansion over the next few years with approximately ten store openings planned for 2007.

Laminate makes topping at Pizza Express
The new Pizza Express restaurant in Manchester’s Trafford Centre is featuring Abet's striking and popular Legni collection of woodgrains.
As there was virtually no opportunity for branding on the exterior, the interior became the focus of the scheme. To achieve a spectacular design, Lief Design specified a dramatic mix of materials, furniture, imagery and colour to give the restaurant a striking appearance and strong customer appeal.
Laminate from Abet’s Legni Speciale Collection has been used to clad the walls of the new restaurant and the unusual ‘booth dining’ configuration which has proved to be a particularly popular part of the customer experience.
These woodgrain high pressure laminates adds to the designers palette of oak panelling, natural stone and rich grass-green sprayed glass to create a simple yet defined area. The laminates are designed to give the warmth and appearance of real wood but with the added benefits of laminate strength and durability.
