Students Eat in Style

High-pressure laminate from Abet’s Legni collection is attracting students and customers to the ‘Global Village’ in London’s Mile End. This is the spectacular cafe bar located on the new campus building of Queen Mary University designed by the award-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley. The interior of Global Village was designed by specialist interior consultancy Lief who specified furniture from Medessin's new Lo-Fi range manufactured exclusively by Morris Furniture. The custom built Lo-Fi furniture included dining tables, benches and coffee tables all finished using the green 1671 Abet Laminate on birch-faced ply. These pieces were designed to compliment the palette of fresh colours and timeless styling of the interior that are far removed from the usual student cafeteria. Lief Design’s Martin Vicker comments, “We specified this particular Abet Laminate for several reasons, not only for its durability and strength but the great shade of green which mirrors the copper cladding used on the exterior of the building. When combined with imaginative lighting, the overall effect is stunning.” Abet’s Legni collection forms part of the company’s extensive range of laminates which comprise over 850 different styles, patterns and colour ways in a variety of grades and finishes.

Soothing Laminates

Stunning images of town and country, reproduced on Abet’s high pressure laminate and using Digital Print technology, are a major feature of the new Maternity Unit at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley. Designed by Architects Capita Percy Thomas for the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust, the images of local scenes conceal doors which give access to electrics, services and storage areas. David Partridge from CPT comments, “The laminate panels are very successful and everyone is delighted with how well the Digital Print has worked. They not only hide the service areas but also provide a stunning visual reference point and something local which expectant mothers can identify with and enjoy during their stay in hospital.” Digital Printing is a medium which offers architects and designers unparalleled freedom to realise unique and unusual concepts, by using the technology in conjunction with Abet’s wide range of high pressure laminates. This method of reproducing images directly into laminate has revolutionised the way in which laminates are used in interior design and introduced a completely new medium for expressing ideas and images.

Sole Trader

Rosso Antico from our Colours range is the stunning colour theme used for refurbishment of the "Tin Fish" shoe shop in Leicester. Conceived by Creed Design Associates, and carried out by local shopfitters Harvey Dayman Displays, the bold and fresh colour scheme emphasises the contemporary Tin Fish design and philosophy. By using such a deep and powerful colour, it has been possible to create an impressive backdrop for the unique shoes which the company markets. Creed Design's Matt Pilling says, "We decided to use Abet's Rosso Antico for the new display system because this colour is so warm and vibrant. The resulting interior space is bright and welcoming. The new display system presents the footwear to the customer in a clear and accessible way while providing an exciting and impressive backdrop. We wanted to create a unique contemporary feel to the store and PRINT Laminates have helped us achieve just that!"
