High gloss laminate used for new Glasgow casino

The new Alea Glasgow Casino features Abet’s new high gloss HR LAQ high pressure laminate in all its washrooms. Cubicle specialists Decra Ltd worked with casino architects Real Studios Limited to design the washrooms and specified Abet’s HR LAQ as it not only provided a collection of bold and bright colours but also provided very high resistance to scratching, wear and abrasion making it perfect for this kind of application where the combination of high performance and visual appeal are paramount. HR LAQ is a Collection of Horizontal Grade Standard (HGS) laminate which provides architects and designers with a choice of 24 bold and bright colours. Having only recently been launched, it has already proved very popular with architects, designers and shopfitters worldwide for retail, washrooms, changing rooms and similar applications. In response to this, Abet will extend the range of finishes and colours for HR LAQ later this year. In addition, the company will add certain decorative designs and finishes from other Collections to the range, including the popular Legni woodgrain and I Finti ranges.

First High Gloss Horizontal Grade Laminate

The first high pressure laminate (HPL) to have a high gloss surface has been launched by Abet on the UK market. HR LAQ is a Collection of high gloss surface laminates with very high resistance to scratching, wear and abrasion. Horizontal Grade Standard (HGS) laminate provides the designer with a choice of 24 bold and bright colours. Traditionally, there have been problems with manufacturing laminate with a high gloss finish for horizontal applications. The solution is a new resistant finished called LUC-2. This finish provides the laminate with higher durability and level of shine compared with standard finishes. Importantly, it maintains high levels of brightness and a scratch-free surface during use. Since the launch, the new Collection has proved very popular with architects, designers and shopfitters worldwide. In response to this, Italian laminate manufacturer Abet will extend the range of finishes and colours for HR LAQ. In addition, certain decorative designs and finishes from other Collections, including the popular Legni woodgrain and Finti ranges, will be added.

Recycled Laminate

Tefor® is a new 100% recycled laminate offered by ABET for the first time the UK. Tefor® is a decorative surfacing material made from recycled polypropylene and the waste generated from the manufacturing process. It is believed that Abet is the only company in the world who recycle their waste this way and these efforts greatly reduce the plant’s environmental footprint. Tefor® is available in several colours and can be used for a host of interior light duty, design-driven applications including retail shelving, backsplashes and vertical cladding. It has a chemical composition that offers resistance to water absorption as well as high impact and chemical resistance.

This year Abet Laminati celebrates its 50th year as manufacturers of High Pressure Laminate. In addition, this year also marks the 10th anniversary of Abet’s offices and warehouses in Beckton, East London. To celebrate the Anniversary, representatives from all 80 branch and satellite offices from around the world descended on Bra, Italy to help celebrate the occasion. At the event, Mr Mazzola, Abet’s Chairman also unveiled the roll out of a new corporate identity and global re-branding campaign. Over the last 50 years, Abet has become Europe’s largest manufacturer of high pressure laminate manufacturing a staggering 160,000 square metres of high pressure laminate per day.
